Meeting

Hope you've all had a great Christmas and are ready for the New Year celebrations.

Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a meeting at Keighley Rugby Union Club on the 16th January 2014 for the Tag Rugby, from 7pm onwards.

Just to let you all know that tag rugby planning is now underway and as the majority of you have been with us or the past two years in supporting my events I would like to firstly thank you all so much! And secondly invite you to a meeting, as this year we would like more input from you as what you think will work for 2014 :). This years tag rugby is aiming to be based purely on organising a fantastic event for everyone to enjoy! Whilst also raising awareness of spinal injuries in general. We are hoping to gain the support of the Matt Hampson foundation as well!

We would like to invite anyone who has ideas or would like to have some input on the event to this meeting, the more new ideas we have the better.

Please Help My Club

A little bit of a different update this time, while Nathan is flying away to Florida for a well deserved family holiday after 2 years of life and house being turned upside down for him and all his family, he has asked if we can try and help the first team out at his club Keighley Rugby Union Club who are having a rough season with injuries and players having work commitments.

If you would be interested in playing Rugby Union and live local then please pop down and have a chat with the guys at Keighley, they will welcome you as they do to everyone who has been involved with helping Nathan and his Trust.

As Nathan says had he not suffered his injury he would have been inline for for being a 1st team prop this year, and it would be great if followers and supporters of his blog or twitter feed could help out his club who have supported him through his injury.

For more details on the club please click here to visit their Pitchero page Keighley Rugby Union Club

Quick update

Just a very quick update to let everyone know the blog will be changing over to a website very soon, but don't worry as we will give you plenty of notice of the details.

Nathan has already been working on the building of the basic website, but we are now to the design part and making sure that all the posts, feeds and photo's we have on the blog pull through to the website correctly.

Nathan and Sue where both being film stars this week, with Clock Work Eye filming them for the Carers Trust, who's patron is HRH The Princess Royal. We should have a clip of Nathan's speech very soon.

Tonight Saturday 19th October will be Nathan on the loose in Skipton with Mark and James also, so if your out and about watch out for us. Our match ball sponsor referee from this years Tag Rugby Karl Collins was due to join us, but due to an unfortunate accident he's now not able to make it, don't worry Karl we will do a re-run when your fit fella.

The Trust has 10 seats at the Accrington Lions annual boxing night on Tuesday 3rd December, we still have about 6 seats for sale for the event, for further information please contact Mark Dunstan on 07595337159, we are looking to have a mini bus to collect and drop off from Keighley and Skipton. Unfortunately this is a gentlemen only evening also.

Nathan and Mark have also been in the Keighley News this week Sponsored diet for Nathan thank you to everyone at the Keighley News for their continued support.

Also in the Keighley News this week was the great news that Jack Carthy has won his first world cup, Jack was so kind to step in and help the Trust at this years Tag Rugby at a weeks notice, well done from everyone at the Trust Jack and good luck for the future.

On a light hearted note, while looking at the Clock Work Eye posts on YouTube I have come across Nigel Owens using his mobile phone to contact the TMO which we have posted on a separate post

Nigel Owens call for the TMO, on a mobile phone

A Facebook Post By Nathan

The below is a direct lift from a Facebook post from Nathan and the responses he has received. None have been edited, so the spelling ect is as the person has responded and reflects how they feel about Nathan and what an amazing young man he is.

  • i know this is abit strange but i think scientist should make a liquid which paralyses someone just for a day or soo to make people relies how hard life is as a quad or even para i'm not going for sympothy or any of that crap. i just think it would give people alot more respect. but sometimes it's funny and other it shocks the living day light's out of you with disriflexia n all that jazz.

    • Yvonne Baines You are an amazing young man and how you have coped and managed is to me immensely admirable. You are an inspiration of whom I am proud to say I had the pleasure of meeting.

    • Nathan Cubitt thank you x

    • Becca Barrett You are an inspiration Nathan! :)x
    •

    •
Yvonne Baines Now that sounds like a plan, so do it. I have every faith on you and not only that I want my ticket to the next Olympics so I can shout you on!!! Oh yes you know I would!!!!

Mark Dunstan Hey big fella, know how hard it was not being able to walk properly for 5 months and all I got was shit from my employer and no visitors to home. So proud to know and be helping you fella, god help skipton next Saturday when we are out. Let's get that wheelchair rugby sorted out. You know what I say, don't say it do it!!
Keep that smile there and show people how strong you are

    •
Jo Dunstan Nathan you're amazing. I've never met anyone in my 30 yrs of nursing with the attitude & positivity that you have. Unfortunately there will always be people who don't understand or can't cope with your situation & that saddens me. Have a great night on Saturday with the guys xx

    • Sarah Jayne Smith have shared big n,well saidlad. xx

    •
George Claxton Nathan, I know exactly were you are comming from cuz when I'm at sixth form the years that are bellow me especially the small ones they walk in front of me as if they don't have a care in the world, but unfortunately no one will be able to understand  how hard our day to day life actually is which looks so simple to others until they experience it them selves, instead of looking at how hard it is because of what you don't have, look at what you do have that makes life easier. No matter what life throws at you, you will always have the people around you to fall back on if you fail, even if you do fall I know you will learn how to pick yourself back up and remember not to make the same mistake again, anyways what is stopping you from starting rugby, I know you say you are waiting for your house to be finished but that doesn't stop you from making the extra effort, so get your arse to southport, we REALLY need you. And for the record the day you kick my arse at wheelchair rugby is the day that pigs fly ;P x

    •
Jo Dunstan Well said george x

    •
Nathan Cubitt southport naaa man bulls ftw

    •
Sam Griffin Well said my man.

    •
Sue Cubitt Its not how many times you are knocked down Nathan its how you get your self brushed off and back up. You gave shown and proved that you can and do this often. Its peoples ignorance or inability to understand that controls their actions and emotions. All you can do is accept them for who they are if they will not or cannot accept you for who you are. You and George Claxton are two amazing people. I have the proudest pleasure of being your mum Nathan and having our extended family around us. Draw strength and determination from us as you give us your inspiration and positivity.
    •
      Sue Cubitt *have

    • Rachel E Stevens Hun you know your amazing........how??? Look at where you are now and what youve acheived... that alone speaks n shows what an amazing positive acheiver you are. Its not about pity its other inexcusable narrow mindedness. You and your family are a breath of fresh air. Everyone gets knocked down. But not many have the strenghth to pick themselves up. I love you all. Xx

    •
Mark Dunstan If people don't mind, I would like to put this thread onto the blog so people can see how Nathan feels and also how we all feel about Nathan if anyone doesn't want their comments posting to the blog, please let me know

    • Naomi Cubitt It's Nathans choice x

    • Peter Hanley Every able bodied person should spend 24 hours minimum in a wheelchair and try live their normal day. Then they would maybe understand our problems better.

    • Nathan John Brumfitt Love you babes

    • Naomi Cubitt Bulmers tonight bro? X

    • Faisal Ismail Listen mate, if anyone's takin the piss outta you for it they are just sad and pathetic n your worth ten of them innit, they better be hoping it doesn't happen to them cos then they'd know how it feels n it could happen to anyone. Know it's hard but try not to think about people like that they aren't worth your time. Keep your head up mate your a sound lad .

Nathan Joining Diet

Nathan has joined Mark on the sponsored diet, not that we have received any pledges as yet. Although we have received diet tips from the Hairy Bikers, which is great as they are both using the Hairy Dieters cook book for some meals.

To pledge your support either email nathatagrugby@gmail.com or leave details on our Trust Facebook page.

We are looking for sponsors for Tag Rugby, although we have received a message from our match ball sponsor from last year about being a main sponsor this year. The package is £250.00 each for name on posters and publicity material. Also able to promote your brand at the event on the day, brand on the blog, and tweeted out every Friday.

If you are interested in being a Tag Rugby 2014 event sponsor, then please contact Mark by email at nathantagrugby@gmail.com or phone him on 07595337159.

If you are interested in entering a team, then we have the entrance forms available on the blog tab now also.

Tag 2014 & Mark's Diet

Well planning has started for Tag Rugby 2014 already, we want to get the sponsors on board as soon as possible so that all the promotional material we send out has their details on.

If you have a business that would be interested in sponsoring the event in part or in whole please get in touch with Mark on 07595337159, last year we had 4 sponsors all of £250 each. For this you will be on all posters, press releases, the blog, tweets out to Nathan's over 3,000 followers and the re tweets that we then get, along with being on pitch banner on the day.

We are hoping to have a Hemsworth team joining us after we went down to help them with there charity day, we have also spoken to Scarborough RUFC about sending a team over for the event as we are hoping to open the day up to more teams from a wider area.

For our referee's this time around we will be providing food at lunch time and are again hoping to provide a kit for you all once again, so please let me know if your able to join us on Sunday 25th May 2014.

We will not be doing an evening event as such this year, but will be packing the site up slowly and just hoping that you will either stay or come back to join us for a relaxing drink, chat and with a little look some of Charlie's photo's on a slide show, we will also do some pizzas and chips at night if there's enough people around.

Mark Dunstan our event manager is going on a sponsored diet for the trust his current weight as he has given it today is 19st 8lbs and his diet starts on Tuesday 1st October, and he will get weighed finally at Tag Rugby. We are asking for pledges of sponsorship for him, with them to be paid on the day of the weighing. His goal is 17st by the Tag rugby event, and is looking for ideas of how to reach this, he would also like to join the lads at Keighley on some training nights for fitness in the New Year, once he knows his back injections have worked and he can do fitness and running again.

If you would like to pledge a sponsorship amount for Mark, email nathantagrugby@gmail.com or leave details on The Trust Face Book Page
