Jason Robinson Helps Raise the Profile

Jason coming on board and agreeing to play in the event, and also having access to his great media man Dave Swanton, has not only helped increase entrants in to the event but also increased the great raffle prizes we have been offered. I am going to create a separate page for all the companies and the prizes they have offered and we are currently in the process of getting raffle tickets printed for this.

We still have places open for teams to register to take part in the event, and who knows you may be on a side that beats the great Jason Robinson, although you would have to catch him first!!

Nathan's team have embraced having Jason joining there team, by going out and getting 'T' shirts printed with Billy Whiz on them.

Our local paper has this week published an article on Jason join the event, you can read that here Keighley News written by Tony Simpson.

What the papers website version doesn't tell you is that Nathan's younger brother Billy, played for Keighley under 13's last weekend and managed to score a great try, but also made a great interception and race 50 meters before being tackled. Just think how much it must have taken for Billy to pull on his boots again after Nathan's injury, but not only does he do this, his mum says he has improved so much it's like he is playing for himself and for Nathan. A big well done to this great young man and also happy birthday for last Tuesday Billy, now officially a teenager!!!

Nathan and Billy

We still need volunteers to help at the event and also trophy's and medals for those taking part, if anyone can help please email us at nathantagrugby@gmail.com

Don't forget this is going to be a family day with lots going on. It starts at 9am on Saturday 26th May 2012 and finishes at 5pm. This is followed by a disco and then the Little Earthquakes playing, tickets for their gig cost £5 and can be purchased through the above email.

Come play against Jason Robinson

Ever wanted to play rugby against the former Dual Code International and Rugby Union World Cup winner Jason Robinson?

Well here's your chance, not only has arranged the sponsorship of Nathans Tag Rugby event, and agreed to open the event. But he last night asked if he can play for Nathan's Keighley Rugby Club U17's team in the event. This is an amazing chance and endorsement of the event and great support for Nathan.

If you want to enter a team in the event and have a chance to play on the same pitch or meet Jason, then please email nathantagrugby@gmail.com and down load the application form from the blog page. It costs £30 to enter your team, and because its Tag Rugby anyone can play, if you can catch a ball and run or walk, then you can play!!

If you can't enter a team then how about helping out at the event, we need stewards, match co-ordinators, car parking stewards and people to help on stalls. Or why not enter a cake in the great Nathan Cubitt bake off!!

There is going to be Park and Ride in operation on the day of the event, we will be uploading a map for this before the event. This is due to the limited parking at Keighley's ground.

If you can help with raffle prizes, tombola prizes, or would like to advertise in the event programme then please email us at nathantagrugby@gmail.com

Our Major Event Sponsors

Following a very busy week with regards event planning for the Tag Rugby, on Thursday morning I received a message from former dual code international and Rugby Union world cup winner Jason Robinson, after speaking with Jason he has agreed that proskins compression wear and Grange Jaguar will both sponsor the event. Jason has also agreed to open the event for Nathan, so make sure you are there to meet this great rugby legend.

This is amazing news for the event and I know when Sue told Nathan the news he was over the moon, or in her words 'he was buzzing'.

Thank you very much to Jason and both companies, I know your involvement will not only mean a lot to all of us involved with Nathan, but also will help raise the profile of the event.

Further to this we have had our first company sign up for an advertisement in the programme, a big thank you to Leeds Carnegie's Jon Pendlebury for arranging this. If you would like to join them in advertising in the programme, it will cost £25 for half a page or £50 for a full page. Please email nathantagrugby@gmail.com for further details.

We still have spaces for teams to enter, and to do this again you need to email nathantagrugby@gmail.com. This will be 7 a side, with as many interchanges as required, each match is 7 minutes each way in the pool stages and takes place on a half size pitch. The cost of entry of a team is £30, with most teams being made up of 10 players, this is only £3 each. Teams can be male, female or mixed. once we have all registrations we will look at the mix of teams to make the pool groups as evenly matched as possible.

Also there is a meeting on Thursday 12th April 2012, at the Kings Head Pub in Silsden starting at 7pm, for you to come along and give us your ideas and get involved with the event.

Latest update

Great news this week!!!

We now look like we have enough referees for the event, a massive thank you to Yorkshire Referees Association. Your members have really stepped up to the mark and we will ensure as well as them helping us, that we make it a great day for them.

Nathan has posted on his face book that it is only 21days before he is due home, which is a massive step for him and even more reason why we want this event to be a success, this was Nathan and Marks idea, while visiting at Pinderfields. So come on guys and girls just email us at nathantagrugby@gmail.com and enter a team for the event, this young man is fighting his way to using his body again, let us all show we can run around for 14minutes in each match.

Spend 5 minutes with Nathan and his I can do spirit and drive will rub off on you!!!!!

So far we have arranged the following:

  • Face Painting
  • Hog Roast
  • BBQ
  • Special Guests
  • Live band in the evening
  • Stalls for cake
  • Tag belts
  • Rugby Balls
  • Referees
What we are now looking for is:

  • A Splat booth for wet sponges
  • First aid (we have a Emergency Nurse Practitioner and Doctor)
  • Splat the rat in a drain pipe
  • PA System
  • Trophy sponsors
  • Advertisers for programme (£50 for half page, £25 for quarter page)
  • More teams
  • 1 Large White or Magnetic board
Any other ideas greatly welcomed, let us all make this a great fun day and show what the rugby community and also the community of the Aire Valley can do.

Also please take a look at the article the Keighley News has done about Nathan here New England Coach Meets Nathan

Nathan meets Stuart Lancaster

On Sunday 25th March, Nathan was at the Leeds Carnegie game against Bedford.

His team were also there collecting for his trust fund, when he managed to meet the great new coach of England Mr Stuart Lancaster. Stuart has played and coached with Nathan's uncle Ronnie so was aware of Nathan's injury and very kindly posed for a photo with him.

Thank you to all of Nathan's team who turned up and carried those buckets around collecting for him, i am told the collection was a great success, also another massive thank you to Leeds Carnegie who once again have proved so supportive of Nathan.

Nathan and his Dad Matt at Carnegie

Keighley U17's out collecting

I'm sure he's not supposed to eat the collection, unless its converted into Burger King's

The collection raised £900 in the ground and a further £300 in the bar, then with the added money back from Carnegie for the free tickets the grand total was £1,550!!!

Also we received the grand total this week from the Bradford Salem event, this was £2,000, which again is another amazing amount!!!

Who knows maybe we can talk Stuart into attending Nathans Tag rugby event, which had more good news this week. Hog Roast Yorkshire have agreed to provide a hog roast and do the BBQ for the event, with 20% of their profits going to Nathan's Trust fund
