Bike Ride

Well just over a month to the Liverpool to Leeds canal bike ride (along the tow path as we thought the water was a little deep), and planning is going ok.

We are still looking for a sponsor to help with the cost of the transport and things like innertubes, spare tyres also if possible event T Shirts. So if you would like to help us out in exchange for your details being on the blog, press releases and tweets, then please email us on nathantagrugby@gmail.com .

I know Matthew, Nathan's dad has serviced his bike but not been out doing much training yet, Anna has done her first hour out on a bike and said she was suffering slightly. But know they will all come together on the 1st September for Nathan.

Music night & Golf

A massive thank you to Ken Dyson and all that attended the Music night and Golf day.

I know the music night was a great night with some everyone enjoying some great music and some amazing raffle prizes.

Ken has said the Golf was also an amazing day and that he is looking to turn this into an annual event,

I have also been told that you have raised over £4,000 for Nathan's Trust fund so thank you all.

The big bike ride

On 1st September, Nathans Dad Matt, Brother Billy, Uncle Joe and a few crazy friends and supporters will be cycling from Liverpool to Leeds along the canal, they are looking to do this in 2 sections. Reaching Burnley at the end of the first day and having completed around 68 miles possibly a little more.

Having undertaken the ride twice previously myself i know the pain they will go through on that first day!!! All of you out there that are saying its the canal its flat, take a look at the Wigan locks, in 2 miles there are 21 locks!!!

Not all the paths are nice and paved or tarmac, in fact most of the first day is mud and being by the canal it's sticky and like clay.

None of those taking part are hardcore cyclists, in fact i know Anna hasn't ridden a bike in years and is suffering just in training, so please get behind these guys and support them.

Sponsor forms will be going out to them all ASAP, or contact us at nathantagrugby@gmail.com and we can provide details of how to sponsor them.

We are also looking for an event sponsor, for cycling tops and maybe a few inertubes, as punctures are a fact of life on the canal. If you have a cycling company or a business that would be interested then please contact Mark at nathantagrugby@gmail.com . Nathan has over 3,500 Twitter followers, at least a hundred hits a week on the blog and Facebook too so we can offer good promotion of your company name.

Nathans GRiNneRs

Please take a look at the event below, amazing what 4 blokes will do to escape to warm dry weather!!!

Extract from Twitter account for Isabella Grace 'Isabella Grace Senior 26th November 2011 - 8th February 2012. In my memory I am raising the awareness of Bronchiolitis and RSV in the UK'

Isabella's journey does not end here. We are determined to undertake the following objectives:

  • 1. To raise the awareness of Bronchiolitis and RSV throughout the UK.

  • 2. To ensure that Isabella's legacy lives on, we are trying to raise £50,000 to buy a new life support machine and state of the art cot bed.
  • This vital medical equipment was key to keeping our daughter alive, will be donated to the Paediatric Children's Intensive Care Unit at Ward 2, Leeds General Infirmary.
This will be in memory of Isabella. As her parents it will provide us with some comfort that Isabella's inner strength, determination, courage and bravery will be with other sick children and babies every step of the way.

Once again there is a link to Leeds General Infirmary which is were Nathan had his initial treatment and needs out support.

    Thank you Sian.
